Acquisition of periodicals

The library provides for the departments:

  • Finding out the existence of the title, supplier, price offer
  • Subscription based on the requirements of the heads of the Faculty of Science departments
  • Records and library processing in the electronic catalogue of the Faculty of Science
  • Return to the relevant department after the expiration of the period of exposure in the Central Library (14 days)
  • Delivery control, complaint procedure
  • Opening of the electronic version of the periodical, access to the list of periodicals of the library
  • Purchase negotiations of titles for exchange or gift

In exceptional cases when dislocated departments subscribes periodicals directly, it is essential for the competent staff to pass the numbers to the library for processing.

Acquisition of monographs

The library provides for the departments:

  • Finding out the existence of the title, publisher, price offer
  • Purchase based on the request of the authorized persons
  • Records and library processing in the electronic catalogue of the Faculty of Science
  • Return to the relevant department
  • Opening of the document electronic version, access to the full-text in the library catalogue
  • Purchase negotiations of titles for exchange or gift

The library also provides:

  • Records and processing of defended theses
  • Records and processing of publications of the Faculty of Science (publishing activity, proceedings)
  • Archiving of faculty production
  • Records and processing of gifts (after previous agreement)

Acquisition of electronic information resources (EIZ in Czech)

The library provides for the departments and grant holders:

  • Finding out the existence of the title, publisher, price offer
  • Free trial access (publisher's offer is usually 30 days)
  • Finding out the possibilities of co-financing with other subjects
  • Purchase based on the request of the authorized persons
  • Opening of the electronic access, training in working with EIZ

EIZ acquisition for the Faculty of Science is coordinated and approved by the Library board of the Faculty of Science, within MU it is managed by  Library Information Centre MU (KIC MU).
